Bumbershoot is one of Seattle's most iconic and longest-running cultural institutions, celebrated as a multi-disciplinary arts and music festival. Held annually over Labor Day weekend at the Seattle Center, the festival features a diverse array of live music, comedy, dance, film, literary arts, and visual arts. Known as 'Seattle's moss-covered Mardi Gras,' it emphasizes the creative spirit of the Pacific Northwest, showcasing both international headliners and emerging local talent. The festival is produced by the nonprofit Third Stone in partnership with New Rising Sun, focusing on community engagement, inclusivity, and workforce development for young people in the arts.
Bumbershoot's non-profit arm, Third Stone, runs the BumberWorks Workforce Development Program. This program offers paid training and hands-on experience in live music and event production for young people aged 17-25, focusing on community and skill development within the arts economy.
