Burning Man 2025
August 24 – September 1, 2025Gerlach, NV, USA · Black Rock City
Burning Man is a temporary city (Black Rock City) built in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada, dedicated to community, art, self-expression, and radical self-reliance. It is guided by 10 Principles, including radical inclusion, gifting, decommodification, radical self-reliance, radical self-expression, communal effort, civic responsibility, leaving no trace, participation, and immediacy. While music is a significant element, found at numerous theme camps and on art cars, Burning Man is not a traditional music festival with a curated central lineup. It is a unique cultural event and temporary community.

Strong emphasis on 'Leave No Trace' - participants are required to remove all trash (MOOP - Matter Out Of Place) and leave the desert floor cleaner than they found it. Efforts are made towards waste reduction, alternative energy sources, and environmental stewardship, though the event's impact is complex and debated.
