The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, commonly known as Jazz Fest, is a world-renowned celebration of the music, art, culture, and heritage of New Orleans and Louisiana. Established in 1970, the festival spans two weekends and features thousands of musicians across 14 stages, ranging from local legends to international superstars. Beyond the music, the event is famous for its authentic Louisiana cuisine, including iconic dishes like crawfish bread and gumbo, and its extensive markets showcasing handcrafted folk and contemporary arts.

The festival employs comprehensive greening initiatives including extensive recycling of plastics, aluminum, and paper; composting of food waste; a unique oyster shell recycling program for coastal restoration; water refill stations to minimize single-use plastics; and the collection of used cooking oil to be converted into biofuel for local shrimping boats.
